Photojournalism is a dying art, people do not get paid anymore for taking images for the newspaper, they rely on the everyday person - the civilian photographer, to take photographs and videos of the events that are happening. Photojournalism emerged as a form of photography in the late 1920's, "the term denoted picture making that was spontaneous, topical and rapid" says the V&A website, however, photojournalism in the current day is set up photographs that force us to perceive a certain view of a topic.
Celebrity culture is rife these days, and the "pap" culture of photographs photographing the everyday lives of normal people has become something we have become used to in the media. Back in the 20th century, celebrities used to use photojournalism to present themselves as real people, living normal everyday lives like the rest of us. Nowadays, photojournalism is used to make celebrities appear high up than us, with their Prada handbags and Ferraris.
